Textures (and
other bitmap images)
How to get textures
and other images out of SketchUp.
Other Images
The way to get other images out of
SketchUp is to select them and choose Use as Material from the
contextual menu (Option-click on them, or click with the right
mouse button). Then treat them as textures.
Overview
SketchUp stores its textures with a path
reference to where the texture was when it was imported. Thus
we can say that it has two different types of textures:
1. Textures that exist on your computer at the path stated.
2. Textures that no longer exist at the path stated, (or never
existed on your computer).
If you import all your own textures and never move them you
probably will have all type 1. textures. If you use a lot of
clip art from the net you are likely to run into into type 2.
textures from other computers, other operating systems, etc.
Unfortunately, textures exist in many formats, including the
following:
.png .jpg .gif .tif .psd and no extension at all Method 1 - Duplicate the materials list
1. Show the Colors Window, press the button
on the toolbar, or choose Window -> Colors
2. Click the house, so the popUpMenu next to it reads Colors
in Model
3. Choose Duplicate... from the List PopUpMenu
4. Press Return

This will save (some of) the textures from your
model as .tif files in the folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Sketchup/Textures/
where ~/ is your home
folder. This is enough for SU2POV 2.2.3 to find them properly. Method 2 - Export as OBJ
